Growth

Italy, this entries mainstay.

Within the forest of Sasso Pisano lies another hot spring. Once a simple washhouse, it has been transformed into a unique bath. The spring has kept its rustic charm, creating a moody athmosphere. The water flowing directly from the pipe was a around 40 degrees Celsius, however, the tub itself with its clear water was around 10 degrees colder, creating a perfect balance. It was a truly magical experience, bathing in the forest on the last day of the year.

Immersion

De-stress
RICETTE DI SARDEGNA is feeling fantastic with Stefania Polito in Bultei:

More Mediterreanen, Andalucia (above), below Greece.

I took a break from driving and got some relaxation at the #Thermopyles, the mythological Hot Gates, the Cavernous entrance of #Hades, the God of the Dead, and Lord of the Underworld. The place derives
Its name from the hot sulfur springs. In antiquity, this was the theater to one of the most epic battles between the Greeks, led by Leonidas and the Persians.
Back then the morphology of the area was quite different; narrower and closer to the coast. So the site had strategic importance, and it's not a case that more battles took place in it. The place despite the sulk vegetation feels a tad sinister: it's hard to dismiss the nearby Syrian/Kurds refugee camp. Poverty and desperation found some redemption in selling oranges, apples, and some weird sodas, to the travelers. I purchased the fruit from the kids and exchanged a few words with their parents, learning more about the horrors these poor people escaped from. Despite the sense of wellbeing upon bathing in the springs, I felt heartbroken by their stories; their tragic circumstances stripped them of their hopes. They are now on foreign soil with nowhere to go and very little to look forward to. I said goodbye to resume the journey while cowardly running away from their reality.

Winter is upon us. Nearly.
What's topical in Europe's soaking world?
The Guardian (Sep. 26) asked it's readers for tips on Europe's spa's, baths and sauna's:
'Winning tip: Free and easy, Finland
Armed only with a towel, a bundle of firewood (in case stocks had run out), a pack of sausages and some spring water (to drink and throw on the stove), I went one evening with my Swedish friends to the tiny,  do-it-yourself Sompasauna. Built by volunteers, it’s 15 minutes’ walk from the Kalasatama metro in Sompasaari, Helsinki. Free to use, it’s open day and night all year round and kept spotless. There are no lockers, showers or staff, so it’s real back to nature stuff. After enjoying the sauna, we went for a swim in the Gulf of Finland, then had a convivial barbecue with other visitors'.
Tbilisi's sulphur thermal baths gets tipped, as does Tuscany's Saturnia soak. So does Ax les Thermes (Southwest France) and Dona Beija (Sao Miguel, Azores); as well as many other hot spring mentioned in the readers comments.

betybut555 at Termas De Yesa (Navarra, Spain)

A slightly older article from GoNomad though google says November 10, so let's stick with that. It's about coming to terms with foreign habits. Or foreigners getting used to local culture:
'As a Canadian, I’m known, culturally, for living a bit of the frontier life, exploratory, open-minded, opposed to the strictures of tradition and convention, and perhaps just a little bit crass.
However, going to the nude spas in Germany, naked as the majority are, I was surprised to add to that list my own uniquely un-Canadian descriptor, “uptight.”
It seems though, despite bringing Canada into it, it's a more personal take.

An article in the Guardian (Oct. 13) on the World Aufguss Championship held in the Netherlands:
'It is the final day of the week-long world aufguss championships at Thermen Berendonck, a stunning sauna complex in Wijchen, near Nijmegen, where nearly 100 contenders and 11 European countries compete for medals. Surveying the room, I see friends chatting, couples clasping hands. Some banter and clap. No one avoids eye contact or stares at their feet. This could be any spirited theatre crowd, were it not for the nudity.
...
Britain is not a competing country here and while aufguss might inspire snickering among some buttoned-up Brits, it is part of a booming European industry that intersects wellness with the arts. According to Martijn Vanhoorelbeke, a juror at the aufguss and three-times former Belgian champion, the benefits include not just the detoxifying effects of a sauna but emotional catharsis, too. He regards it as a “total experience” of the senses: “Aufguss does what other kinds of theatre cannot do with the smells [of the oils], the sounds and sights, the feeling of the heat as well as the emotional drama of the story and the effect of all of those things combined.”
We are more vulnerable when we are more exposed, he adds, and so the experience not just bring out physical toxins but “emotions rise up, too.”
A great article, don't forget the comments section: as (nearly) always with the Guardian, they are often more entertaining than the article itself.

Pioneer
Let's look at more depth of what's happening in each region.
Think GeoEnergy reports (Oct. 20) on developments in eastern Greece:

'As reported from Greece, cheap geothermal energy and heating is coming to Alexandroupolis, a seaside municipality in the east of the country. The green light has been given for the groundbreaking work on this district heating project. After months of litigation, work will begin next and be completed in 18 months. The project implemented by the Municipality of Alexandroupolis has a budget of EUR 6.2 million (USD 6.8m) and is considered pioneering for the whole of Greece, as it gives local communities great development opportunities, while also having positive effects on residents who can afford cheap heating'.
Hopefully it doesn't affect the local hot spring.

Again Think GeoEnergy (a great source of never ending info on geothermal development; alas quite a bit of company news). It looks (Sep. 11) at Bavaria's Erding Therme. Citing and translating a local source:

'For now more than 20 years STEAG New Energies GmbH Erding has supplied the city of Erding with geothermal energy from resources at a depth of 2,350 meters. Today, about one fifth of the total heat demand of Erding can be covered by climate-friendly geothermal energy. The article published yesterday, looks behind the scenes of the geothermal heating plant Erding 2.
The history of Erdinger Erdwärmeversorgung began in 1983, when oil firm Texaco drilled for oil. With heavy equipment the company drilled to ab depth of 2,359 meters into the earth’s surface. No oil was found, but 65 degrees Celsius hot thermal water. The oil company had no interest whatsoever in the water, which resulted in the city and the the larger municipality founding a joint venture to use the “hot gold”, as they call it in 1989.
...
Plans were initiated for the local thermal bath Therme Erding in 1994, which then opened in 1999. The bath was planned as there was no second well planned at the time, through which the cooled down water could have been returned into the reservoir below. At the time, it was more economical to treat the thermal water and use it in a spa, almost incidentally a recreational “temple” was created that has made Erding famous around the world. The spa is today by far the largest customer of the joint venture for thermal water and STEAG for geothermal heating.
...
With the geothermal heating plants, the city saves almost two-thirds of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions each year ...'.

Where are we now? Umm, let's continue with France.
A recent find, Le Trou de Madame. Not far from Dax in France's southwest near the banks of the river Adour, it used to be a thriving thermal establishment. Apparently due to waning interest nothing has been happened in the last 50 years or so. My source further reveals:

'Si l'on prétend que les eaux et boues thermales de Préchacq étaient connues dès l'Antiquité pour leur vertus curatives, les bains ne consistaient, jusqu'au début du XVIIIe siècle, qu'en quelques sources chaudes s'épanchant dans de grands trous remplis d'eau boueuse au milieu d'une belle forêt de chênes des bords de l'Adour.
This website adds:
'L'odeur présente de cette source sulfureuse est très forte,et, assez incommodante ( odeur d’œufs pourris ). L'eau présente est d'environ 30 °C'.
A further find, a website for springs in the area of Les Landes, southwest France; most cool though.

Sadly, Lamiacittanews (Sep. 19) notes that September 28 will be celebrated as the fifth anniversary of the Bullicame thermal spring running dry:
'Si invita tutta la cittadinanza a partecipare alla mesta cerimonia, recandosi al capezzale della callara, tenuta in vita da una flebo di accanimento terapeutico, che proviene dal pozzo S. Valentino. Non fiori, ma insistenze e solleciti su chi deve provvedere a sistemare e a fare sistemare il danno provocato'.
Then a report (Sep. 28) on the day itself.
More info on the situation (Lamiacitta, Aug. 2; Lamiacitta, Aug. 30) of Bullicame.

Lamiacitta (Sep. 22) takes a looks at nearby Carletti
'... went for a walk at the Carletti Spa on Strada Terme, where thermalism is free, as it always has been for our fathers. I must say that there were many people. Some soak in the tanks near the spring, and others who were blissfully sunbathing. The trash bins were all emptied, and there was a clear and crystalline air, like only Viterbo and a few other places in Italy, can offer'.
A lot of Sicilian soaks from soakersforum by benjaminstarr:

Gonews.it (Oct. 14) introduces us to a novelty:
'Hundreds of people, originating from the geothermal area or coming from other areas of Tuscany, took part in the twelfth edition of the geothermal Trekking along the beautiful path of natural manifestations "Geothermal and Steam" which leads from the Fumarole Park of Sasso Pisano, in the municipal territory of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, at the Biancane Park in Monterotondo Marittimo, between the provinces of Pisa and Grosseto.
...
The participants had the opportunity to visit the Enel Green Power geothermal plant "Sasso 2", in Sasso Pisano, and the archaeological excavations of the Etruscan Roman Baths of Bagnone'.
From Rust to Road Trip has updated their list of favorite soaks: a great list of 14 natural soaks. Includes the recent addition of Pozza di Leonardo DaVinci (northern Italy).
Our main incentive for spending a week in the Stelvio National Park amongst the shaded valleys and snow-dusted peaks were the thermal waters of the Pozza di Leonardo DaVinci.⁣Morning and night, we would skirt the narrow concrete bridges and cliffs above the Adda river into the depths of the valley. Opposite the old crumbling Stelvio Pass road we abandoned our clothes to the rocks and sunk into the clear, warm waters beneath the steam.⁣It felt good to be back in a hot spring after so many months without, our skin softened by the minerals and our aches and pains soothed by the heat. It was just as spectacular to bathe beneath the stars as it was with Alpine views, the pool warming us to our very bones.⁣Our time spent in the National Park gave us a chance to explore, to experience the area in-depth, to hike its narrow crumbling paths and shop at the local weekend market. We experienced many facets of Italian Alpine life, the food, the culture and the conversation, and revelled in the harsh, unpredictable landscape.⁣The nights were cold, and the days not much warmer, as we waited for the snow atop the pass to clear so we could continue on our journey…⁣
Strength
Let's head for central Europe. Starting with Slovakia.
Think GeoEnergy (Sep. 20) has a similar story to the one above on Erding:
'While not being successful in exploration for oil back in the 1960s, the wells drilled then actually turned out to change the village of Podhájske in Slovakia. Finding geothermal water then, was the foundation for a large thermal spa park and greenhouses.
...
The village Podhajska is situated approximately 90 km east of Bratislava in northeast part of Danube basin. The Podhájske Thermal Park features 10 pools with water temperature between 26 and 38°C. The well also provides heat to greenhouses nearby, growing flowers and tomatoes'.

Neobsidimdoma (Dec. 19, last year) with the above picture and the following report. Translated:
'The pre-Christmas season peaks and stress waves are at maximum. You know it: I don't have gifts yet…, you have to clean at home…, you don't recognize the baking dust from the shelf dust…, the gingerbreads don't soften… but simply: stress, panic, nervousness, migraine  I decided to reset my head this year I have a great trip to Liptov. Yes, it's cold outside, the tourist season is also freezing, many attractions are closed, but it doesn't matter if you choose such a beautiful area as Liptov. I chose Pension Mara in Liptovsky Trnovec as the base camp and it was a great choice!
...
This water has 20 degrees and has proven healing effects. Since the outside air temperature was below freezing, the water sensation temperature was higher and I endured the recommended 20 minutes. In the summer months, this hot spring is very popular and often visitors have to wait in rows to bathe. The home people told me that it is best to come at night and enjoy the bath by watching the stars. I think I will certainly try it. There is also a drinking mineral spring Teplica near Kade, I recommend to strengthen after the bath with this medicinal water.
...
Kalameny village is located only 2 kilometers from Lúčok and the spring will be directed by the locals. This spring is much warmer than the spring in Liptovský Ján, the water is approximately 30 degrees. So in winter the feeling of a bath is really warm and you won't want to get out of the water'.
Then Hungary.
A more older article (Feb. 8, 2014), but for me a more recent find. A wild hot spring in Hungary, well sort of. Unique? The discharge of the delicate Heviz hot spring is released into a local stream, which is free to use. Though the article focuses on canoeing in winter. The link to exact location with google reviews including soaking reports.

Travel.usnews (recent, apparently):
'A soak in a thermal bath is a quintessential Budapest experience. (It hasn't cultivated a reputation as the "City of Spas" for nothing.) These baths, or fürdok in Hungarian, are heated by natural thermal springs and usually include on-site massage services, as well as steam rooms.
With more than 100 thermal springs, the various baths around the city cater to different tastes – from relaxation to cures for illness – and some transform into pulsating dance clubs at night, so if you're bathing with your family, you might want to do so during the daylight hours'.

Over to Spain.
Ynetnews (Oct. 19) presents an article on the hot springs of Ourense (Galacia) and it's Jewish heritage. It basically revolves around the author's visit to Termatalia (Sep. 19 and 20):
'Ourense has also cleverly leveraged its thermal heritage to become the global headquarters of Termatalia, a non-profit organization whose name derives from the Spanish terms Termalismo (thermalism) and Talassoterapia -- thalassotherapy, the therapeutic use of seawater. Termatalia has grown from a small regional organization in 1999 into an international organization encompassing much of Europe and Latin America'.
elena_ni_ta at the natural springs of Prexigueiro, not too far from Ourense:
Encontré a una meiga en el río y me enamore de ella. Then some late news from Iceland.
Famous activist (who uses her body to draw attention (or is it the other way round?)) Marisa Papen has a new calendar on the shelf for 2020 with photo's from Iceland (notably as below Hrunalaug hot spring). She hopes to draw attention to plastic soup:

A Calendar-concept that aims for a healthy future of our planet.
Rough Guides (Sep. 20) finally, has an updated Top 10 soaks on Iceland. It's intro:
'An outdoor soak is an essential part of the Icelandic experience – a surreal way to spend a dark winter's day, or to unkink those muscles after a long day's hiking. In fact, the Icelandic tradition of bathing outdoors in volcanically heated pools dates right back to Viking times. A few of these old pools survive today – often sited in spectacular locations – whilst almost all settlements, however tiny, have installed geothermally heated swimming pools with accompanying hot tubs'.

Vain

View northwards towards Lago di Venere from beyond Bugeber

The geothermal gem of the Italian Pantelleria is not at all located on it's coast where many of her hot springs are to be found, but inland in a former crater.
And here, it's not necessarily the hot springs which are it's unique selling point. It's the setting, the hot springs just play a supporting roll.

The near perfect circular inner cone is filled with milky waters and surrounded by greenery. Coming from the interior of the island, you'll see this setting with the backdrop of the Mediterranean behind it, a sight to see (above).

Besides the setting, an added attraction of this site is the ability to offer visitors a near windless experience; Pantelleria is prone to winds such that the local economy has specialised in crops which stay low. Capers, creeping varieties of grapes and olives to name a few. Or using rock enclosures to make windless so-called Arabic Gardens.
The distinct agriculture certainly adds to Pantelleria being a destination for foodies.

So on the many days with winds, the tourists flock to the lake to enjoy the sun and to swim. But they also lather themselves with mud and rinse this in the lake followed by a soak right on top of the many vents which are situated along the shore line.

The lake is known as Lago di Venere (which translates as Lake of Venus) though also coined as Specchio di Venere (Mirror of Venus). Siciliamo (Jan. 4, 2011) explains:
'Like so much of Sicily, Lago di Venere is the site of an ancient classical Greek legend
...
The legend behind this place is that as the water was so strikingly blue and clear in its colour, it was used as the vanity mirror by the goddess of love, Venus.  She especially liked to compare the beauty of her reflection in the lake with that of her rival Psyche'.
Sparkles
The crater in which the lake is situated is roughly 50-200m in depth while the circumference of the lake is somewhere around 1500m. The Lago is largely shallow, though the depth is noted to reach 12m. Despite the mountainous surroundings the lake itself is only just above sea level so seawater seepage is helping in adding to the salinity.
The shape of the lake could be circular, others would say oval, while a third train of thought prefers heart shaped. Suppose it's dependent on the level of the water.

The shores are hardened mud, while just within the waterline mud depths can be considerable. Wading in to the water you might sink half a meter might into the mud.

The hot springs are located at the least accessible (though still a short stroll from parking areas) southern part of the lake and lie at a shallow depth just within the shore line.
Finding them is obvious.
The springs (40-50°C) are surrounded by collections of smaller rocks which act as an windbreak and contain the waters creating a heated pool. See the photo above.

Mor
e background can be found on this Italian website (with characteristics such as chemical composition etc.) of all Pantescan hot spring sites, a great find.

In contrast to other Pantescan attractions there's quite some info on Lago di Venere and it's hot springs. Viverepantelleria:
'Bugeber's Lake (or, Specchio di Venere – Venus' Mirror) is one of the jewels of the island. Its water sparkles like a light blue and green gemstone amidst a typical lush vegetation of endemic plants. Its waters occupy the crater of an extinguished volcano.
The residues of this volcanic activity heat the waters of what is now the most known and visited of the thermal springs of the island. The water of the lake is rich with soda, it is perfect for a healthy peeling of the skin. The temperature is very high and in some places bubbles may be seen on the surface. Mud to spread on the skin is found in these hottest places when the tide withdraws'.
Magoguide (2016):
'The Lake of Venus is a saline endoreic lake. That means it’s a lake where the water doesn’t flow out through an outlet but simply evaporates leaving behind all sorts of chemical deposits. Although it is fed to some extent through rainfall, this lake is primarily filled by a series of hot springs (as high as 132F or 56C) located on the South side. Because the underlying structure of the lake is pouris and very near sea level, sea water also seeps in and contributes to its salinity'.
Translated from gogotherme:
'The presence of thermophilous algae, which is resistant to high thermal water spring temperatures, is essential for the formation of the precious black-green-colored mud which, due to its intense concentration of sulfur, is spread on the skin by tourists for aesthetic purposes ( natural scrub)'.
Schweinerei
Lakeside slash soakside is quite a vibrant place even though either visitors are occupied with the more mundane activities such as lumbering in the springs or mud drying on the shore.
Tripadvisor surprisingly concludes that it's both no. 1 (rated 4.5 stars from 764 reviews, >90% Italian) and no. 2 (4.5 stars from 274 reviews, >90% Italian) of things to do on Pantelleria, not recognizing that the slight differentiations in name actually concern the same site.

Some first hand experiences. From a year ago from girlastray:
'The Lago di Venere (“Lake of Venus”) is probably the most stunning of the all natural wonders to be found here, with its salty hot waters shining a surprising shade of blue when the sun rises over it. Here, you can not only bath but also cover your skin with soft black mud, famous for its healing effect on eczematic skin. If you are a traveler with a nasty case of atopic eczema as myself, you will be happy to spend hours and days here! I felt like the world´s happiest pig rolling in this magical black mud just to see my skin get softer and smoother even after the first bath. Really, I can´t even think of enough praise words to describe the benefits of the mud although at first, it might feel strange to spread it all over yourself, taking into account the sulphuric smell rising from the springs! Sulphur contained in water, however, is just as fit to cure skin diseases as the mud itself. Thermal springs are also known for being a good cure to rheumatism'.
Note the rocks along the shore: between lie the thermal springs with soakers in action.

The Daily Telegraph (11 Feb. 2016):
'But if that doesn’t sound too appealing, think again, as the Specchio di Venere (“Mirror of Venus”) – a heart-shaped lake in a volcanic crater, fed by rainwater and hot springs, and of a colour that modulates from emerald to aquamarine to turquoise to deep blue – is both luxuriously self-indulgent and gratifyingly therapeutic. Slather on the mineral-rich mud, rinse off with a swim to the centre, and emerge, regenerated, with skin like velvet. Bring some water with you, and be aware that there’s no shade. Early mornings and evenings are the most atmospheric times (and the locals recommend a nocturnal dip under the full moon)'.
 Siciliamo (continued):
'People bathe in the lake and sometimes exfoliate themselves with the thermal mud as a beauty treatment while others swear by the healing powers of the lake.  My experience amazingly corresponded with this.  A week earlier I had a minor motor scooter accident on another Sicilian island, Ustica, off the coast of Palermo.  While I was largely unhurt, the accident left deep gashes and cuts to my leg.  I immersed myself in Lake Venus the day I arrived in Pantelleria and covered my skin with the volcanic mud that is to be found on one side of the shore.  After an hour or so, I stood up to walk further into the lake in order to wash off the mud.  When I returned to shore I noticed the scars and the deep cuts on my leg had almost healed.  Where there had once been a deep scar and crusty surface before, now there was a small mark that resembled an old wound that had almost healed.  It was almost as if my accident had occurred three months earlier and my scar had all but healed. I don't know what are the chemical properties that make up the thermal mud found in Lago Specchio di Venere, but I am sure that if a company had the rights to bottle and sell the mud, they would be sitting on the rights to "The Fountain of Youth".  I know I would buy a lifetime's supply - and maybe more!  In fact, I am sure there must be a natural cosmetic beauty company doing this now.  I will research and report back to the Blog.  Stay tuned future immortals'.
Magoguide (continued):
'This lake is hugely popular with locals and tourists alike. It’s the only place on the island with a soft, white, sandy beach. On a windy or cool day when it’s impractical to go to the shore areas for bathing, the beaches on the lake can get packed. And it’s not unusual to see folks slathering on the mud from the lake which is thought to have therapeutic value. Madonna did it.
Dedicated
As it's a very special place, we ended up coming here more often. As said, there's little wind, warmer waters, soaking and it's an easy circular walk around the Lago. Enough to occupy yourself for a couple of hours.

A typical visit would entail a swim followed up by slathering on mud, letting this dry, rinse and soak. The amounts of mud seem unlimited. The shore line provides ample sunbath space (maybe too much = there's no shade) though concerning the soaking possibilities these require a bit more planning.
The hot springs are not deep, so for a good soak one lies down which means space is at a premium. However note that the springs are very localised, so you'll have a cool head, a burnt back, frigid thighs, while you toes have turned red.
The Lago di Venere forms part of Riserva Naturale Orientata which is part of the province of Trapani Nature Reserve:
'The Mirror of Venus is frequented by a lot of water fowls such as Ducks, Limicolous, different species of Herons and Flamingos. Sometimes you can also find Great crested grebe, Cranes, Storks and Spoonbill, recognizable by their peculiar peak. The Blue tit is an endemic species of the island. You can see it near the Montagna Grande'.
It also explains the lack of development and thus the more or less pristine nature of the lake itself. Let's hope that tourism is regulated such as to not threaten nature itself.
On a side note, on the occasions we were here, there were hardly any birds to be seen.

Magoguide (continued) notes that there's more to the surroundings:
'In recent years there have been archeology excavations near the lake, unearthing a temple along the Northeast shore of the lake possibly built as early as the 9th century BC by the Phoenicians (Morgan thinks to the Phoenician goddess Astarte) and later taken over by the Romans and dedicated to Venus. Pretty cool'.
As said the area lends itself as a good base for walking. A stroll around the lake is little effort while extending this with walking a trail over the crater lip requires more effort, but deems better rewards.
Heading towards the coast one can pick up on trails surrounding Punta Spadillo, whereby one can for instance visit the Museo Vulcanologico, a museum dedicated to the geological past of the island as well as the role it played during WW II (on the front line).
Tripadvisor puts a visit to the museum as no. 18 of 27 of things to do on Pantelleria awarding it 4.5 stars based on 27 reviews, none of which are English. We found it an interesting break.

Head inland there's a beautiful track heading up to the village of Bugeber from where one can continue inland into the mountainous and forested interior of Pantelleria with more challenging trails, for hours of rambling.

Magoguide describes another walk, the website has good map material:
'One of our favorite hikes on the island follows an ancient path that can be reached along the Northeast shore. Just follow the shore with the lake on your left and you’ll see signs towards Gelfiser right after the beach ends. Although it’s a long, uphill climb, the views of the Gelfiser lava flow are beautiful. You eventually descend into a little valley that has yet more WWII barracks and guard stations, strategically placed to protect the airport which isn’t far away. If you keep following the path, you’ll see signs on your left that point you towards the Gelfiser lava flow that you can crawl all over if you like'.

Other info I've been able to delve up: there are (annual) horse races which are held every August and concern racing around the lake.

Sense of belonging
As could be imagined, bathing in mud in swimmers is in itself not too bad, however rinsing somehow is less effective: you'll be carrying amounts with you until you can have a thorough shower. Brasher bathers here though, will remove their fig leaves or (discreetly)  be observed not to be bothered with using clothes in the first place.
Did we know that the local government wants to be more tolerant? We did: infonaturista has this to add from 2015 which can be verified from other Italian websites:
'The mayor of Pantelleria, Salvatore Gabriele revoked the order of 17 July 1982 signed by his predecessor Giovanni Petrillo.
The order prohibited not only nude, but topless, describing in offensive bare breasts of women. In the new order, the mayor Gabriele writes: "Given that the island is the destination of international tourist flows, expressions of different cultures and nationalities, with different lifestyles, this Administration finds of considerable interest in the island of Pantelleria, ensure that all the plurality and respect for their choices, by virtue of a tradition of openness and international tourists now consolidated, without fences and unlikely taboos of all kinds.
The island belongs to the world.
The civic sense of the people makes the difference." says the Mayor Gabriel - "I intervened because this was an ordinance discriminatory".
Naturisimosicilia pictures the lake itself when discussing skinnydipping opportunities on the island, though does not mention the Lago itself. It does seem that such a line of thought just exemplifies the spirit of Pantelleria.
