Float

D e a d S e a - getting muddy and relaxing in hot springs after being in the desert 🖤 #deadsea#mud#mudbaths#minerals#hotsprings#saltlake#floating#exploring#travel#travelgirl#sunset#views#landscape#israel#visitisrael🇮🇱

Starting off, the furthest away. Away from mainland Europe that is.

Then to the Balkan: Greece, Albania and Bosnia.

Italy followed by France and Spain.

A final stop on our epic drive home… just when we thought we’d bathed in all the hot springs in France.
This was a magical little place, hidden beneath a canopy of pine trees on a cool and overcast day. We had only a cryptic clue to lead us there and we couldn’t be sure whether it still existed.
This little hot spring has had a trouble past; shared extensively on social media it began to attract greater and greater numbers of visitors. Not all of them caused trouble but there were certainly enough antisocial visitors who were more interested in drinking than absorbing the benefits of nature.
Eventually the mayor had had enough, and ordered it to be destroyed. No one knows for certain whether he was drunk at the time, but rumours swirled.
The locals were heartbroken, so much so that they decided to take it upon themselves to rebuild it. They constructed two new pools and kept their existence a secret for as long as they could.
It’s talking to locals like we did on this particular day that makes us realise the importance of thinking about what we share online and the impact it can have. We may not have a hot spring local to us but we do have hidden beaches and coves that have gradually been lost to us over the years, overrun by visitors meaning they have ultimately lost their charm and appeal.
Plus what’s a hot spring without the fun and adventure to find it?
Anyway, please enjoy the peace and tranquility radiating out of these photos. This was the last hot spring we’ll be bathing in for a while 🌲

On a road trip from Valencia, an amazing place to visit is the thermal hot springs of Fuente de los Baños in Montanejos! 💦
Though it's a thermal spring, the water is not that hot at all. It's not cold... but it's not hot either. Don't expect a jacuzzi!! But it is still a nice swim. Very clear water. Lots of small fish trying to nibble your toes... 😳

Looking further afield, I had the prospect of a short stay at the Jammertal Resort, just north of the Gremany's Ruhrgebiet.
Focus is of course on it's wellness section. Note there's no natural waters to be had here. Though they would emphasize that the air is fresh.

The location is at the end of a dead end road, in the middle of the Die Haard forest / hills, part of the Hohe Mark Nature park.

Officially called the Jammertal Golf and Spa resort, the origins of today's resort lie 170 years back, when the owners decided to start a small health farm (source). Jammertal itself points to the year 1910, when a youth hostel was enabled, allowing guests to stay in the barn.
Unfortunately the history fails to report when the golf was added.
Completely surrounded by forest, the little direct surroundings have been turned over to house a golf terrain, which back in the time would have had a huge appeal. But in these times, the golf section seems a bit small (9 holes). With the surroundings all protected for nature, no further expansion is to be expected here.

The wellness section though has been allowed to evolve and according to their own website now encomapasses 3500m2.
There are two distinct wellness parts: a clothed part (with a focus on fitness / swimming) and a non-clothed part, which entails all the classic wellness parts such as sauna's (seven) and steamrooms (two), an outdoor swimming pool and a natural swimming pond

Overall, the resort is very relaxing and peaceful. Do try to enjoy the greater surroundings, there's walks and cycling to be done.

The wellness was very extensive, very nice. Affordable (? in comparison) at 38,50€ for all day entrance, both sides included.
Pity though that the differentiation between textile and non-textile is blurred; to the disadvantage of the non-textiled. Why on earth would you use sun recliners in FKK section while still clothed? Especially morning, early afternoon, there's a rash of persons more than willing to move over to the non-clothed section, but too ashamed/shy/prude to enjoy fully; things did though improve during the later afternoon.
I also felt that smokers still receive a warm welcome, something which most visited wellness resorts have managed to curtail.

Foodwise, the resort's buffet seems to be very much only for meatlovers. Vegetarians/vegans do have a small corner, but no signature dishes. Think fried rice, pasta and a lentil/vegetable section.
Especially away from home, this is a good moment to expose guests to alternatives, a chance missed. Organic foods seem out of stock. Or management fails do go beyond the green washing.
Rooms very adequate.

Time for us 💕🫶

My overall notes get stuck at 7.5 out of 10. Good but not excellent. Inability to encourage a more freeer sphere for all customers. The interiors of some sauna's might need some redoing.

Internet though seems more positive.
Though one would note that the reviews include all aspects of the resort stay, not necesarily the wellness section only.
Google notes 4.5 stars (from 3200+ reviews), Facebook: 4.4 stars (1000+ reviews) while Tripadvisor 4 stars from 186 reviews.
Wellnessresorts.de is another website with reference to the resort. Other than aforementioned there's little mentioned concerning the Jammertal resort.
