Naturals

Náttúrulegar í náttúrulaug🤠
A couple of photo's (and video's) waiting in a file for a time to be published. However, doesn't seem to be happening, so let's just share them now.

New friends, new adventure. Today was awesome weather and we went on a hike more into the wild and we discovered a beautiful place for swimming.
Our little privite Blue Lagoon🤭

A wonderful hike led up to this hot spring, which was very refreshing. It's always nice to be naked in nature. It makes you feel connected to mother nature and all stress and worries go away.

Btw, many thanks to my crazy friends for making skinny dipping a complety casual thing.
Swimming never felt so liberating 🐟

Betterdays

Cold outside, warm inside🌞🥰. No better day to visit las Thermas de Zujar

Active photo hunting. Starting with Spanish soaks. South, east and north.

“Cualquier pueblo que no conozca su historia está condenado a repetirla”. Ruiz de Santayana
Listening to waters, whispers on the loss of the eastern mountains, the powerful legacy of the spirits here, agitated, intertwined in human relationships. The exodus of Jews, moors, Iberians and Celts, centuries of horrific displacement, killing, land stealing, and ethnic cleasing.
The rape of Florinda La Cava by a sinister visigothic king, the cause for Islamic troops to enter Iberia, free people from the oppression by Visigoths. Many, originated from Iberian and Celtic descent, accepted sufism as philosophy after many centuries of coexistence.
An ancient lament from within the marrow, the deepest wound -the land of Canaan. This collective cry may have originated from the religious reforms of Akhenaton in ancient Egypt to the brutal occupation and suffering in present-day Palestine. A wound that may originated in the city of Ur. A lamentation , invocation for divine protection, within the very own human body. In internal fluids, Ur whispers peace over war.
I feel deeply for Palestinian and their resilience, their ability to survive in the most atrocious and chaotic situations. Obscure solidarities where help never reaches the most vulnerable. Freedom and dignity for Palestine mean liberation and dignity of all. I dream of a rebellion to disarm and stop the dark oppressive imperial, patriarchal, and colonial forces.

Oddly my choice to include wellness news (based on the increasing difficulty of access concerning wild hot springs in Europe and the possible similarities in experience) continues to result in truckloads of articles to share.

But then first the few links that are in hot-spring /soaking  relation.
Indie88 (Jan. 10) on Saturnia (Italy). The lure of nature's health elixir no less. A lot of tips, f.i. come early morning. Or late afternoon.

Public initiatives from Switzerland are the inspiration to a similar call in Aachen, Germany. Thank you Hans for providing the link.
In the center of Burtscheid (a former town in it's own rights but now a suburb of Aachen) the action group Waermkomp.jetzt seek to establish a pop-up small thermally sourced pool for soaking. If you have experienced Baden, you'll have an idea.

TF1 en Auvergne has a report (Feb. 15) concerning the Croizat hot springs (France).
In this report it is reflected upon how popular taking a soak is. This despite that the local authorities have had a ban on soaking in place since 2016. It seems all happy soakers and the local government not in communication modus.

The report though does elicit feedback (Mar. 11) from the Source Chaude Croizat Facebook page. Which confirms that there have been gendarmes handing out fines. And furthermore, it's shared that EU will probably assist (Mar. 11) in financing the upper Dordogne protection plans (?), which might see the soaking site improved and officially approved. So not all doom and gloom?

The Guardian presents an article (Mar. 12) on Galicia's Ourense and the soaks to be had locally.
“Ourense is the thermal capital of Galicia. Not many people realise, but we have about 70 thermal springs pumping an estimated three million litres of thermal water daily,” Karlos Sanmartín, a local tour guide, tells me
...
Locals, in-the-know expats and a small swell of tourists bathe in Ourense’s hot springs year-round, keen to take advantage of the supposed therapeutic benefits – from easing arthritic pain and soothing skin conditions to aiding circulation and respiratory issues. It’s not as popular as Hungary or Iceland but thermal tourism here isn’t new.
Roman soldiers came almost 2,000 years ago to use the city’s mineral-rich waters as a form of post-battle convalescence. “They used the hot springs as a place of rest, healing, leisure and relaxation, but also as a place of worship,” Karlos says.
...
As closing time approaches, I watch as steam rises and melts into a black sky sprinkled with stars that seem to dance to the trickling sound of water. I whisper a little thanks to Karlos. He was right: moonlit bathing is magical'.

Onward.
To sauna culture reflections.

Reddit on a Therme Erding experience (Feb. 27), though heed, Therme Erding is hot spring sourced:
'Can't recommend Therme Erding highly enough!
One of Germanys larger broadsheets (Frankfurther Algemeiner) looks (Mar. 13) at what's on offer in Berlin. Wellness-wise.
Basically it's the bigger Vabali complex. And the smaller Liquidrome.

TTRWeekly notes (Feb. 20) the website spaseekers reveals what they believe to be
'... the most popular spa destinations for 2024'.
Presumptous possibly? Romania is trending,
'... but spa destinations in China, Nepal, and Vietnam figured in the top 10 list'.
The Sauna Channel adds a video and explanation concerning the Latvian pirts ritual. Closely linked with sauna usage:
'The crackling of the wood-burning stove provides a comforting soundtrack as participants surrender to the warmth, allowing tensions to melt away.
Nauris Zutis, with his wealth of knowledge passed down through generations and refined in the crucible of experience, employs ancient techniques to facilitate the detoxification process. He skillfully utilizes aromatic birch twigs, dipped in water infused with herbs, to enhance the cleansing ritual. The gentle swaying of the twigs against the skin stimulates blood circulation and awakens the senses'.

BBC notes (Mar. 3) how the mobile seaside sauna trend is becoming more and more popular. This article with regard to Wales:
'They are more commonly spotted in the corners of gyms and luxury hotels - but saunas are starting to pop up on the Welsh coast.
Swansea's Gower peninsula in winter may seem like a strange place to relax in your swimsuit, but more and more people are visiting, keen to chase away the rainy day blues.
It is the Scandinavian model being followed - where people can move from the cold of the sea, quickly to the warm.
The British Sauna society (BSS) was set up almost 10 years ago with a focus on bringing the authentic sauna to the UK, and said numbers have doubled, with an increasing amount outside.
Starting at a low base, it's not too difficult to double numbers. It also adds:
Gabrielle [Secretary of the BSS] added some people have suggested it is like going into a therapy room, adding: ‘’When you look at what has been happening in the UK - the closing of pubs and community centres - I think it has potential to actually start replacing those things'.’’

These final comments were then promoted on the BBC Facebook page. This post then garners nearly 100 comments. Reading these comments, it's quite surprising to see the ignorance of sauna culture (no, it doesn't mean you drink in the sauna), still a long way to go there in the UK.

BSS has actually an updated directory of all UK
"Public Authentic Sauna's'
with annotations when these are by any body of water.

A find. The Sauna Project. It is dedicated to
'artistic research on Finnish sauna culture'.
With stories, films, photography, exhibitions and the possibility to sign up to sauna trips in Finland.

Confide
How then to navigate the respective sauna cultures in Europe?

Creating a storm. On Facebook.
Asanti (one of Belgiums older wellness destinations) has announced (Feb. 17) the possibility to come on over, but in bathers (if needy), though only on the Tuesdays. Forthcoming, the Tuesday will be clothing optional.
The storm: 175 reactions.
Nudity is the equalizer. Shifting from this opens up voyeurism potentials, possibly resulting in lower body confidence to the non-bathers users. And using the facilities is about being zen.
Owners see it differently: possible new clientele can find their way here and get used to sauna's and take a next step towards the unclothed usage.
My point would be: if we agree that bathers are unhygienic, how then does this play out? Are the sauna's scrubbed more, does the added chlorine (from bathing close / possible inceased use in water) shoot up?
Anyway, the owners are looking for ways to attract more and possibly more satisfied clients. As from the discussion that may mean losing others.
Maybe owners have learnt a thing or two in the process.

Are we pro or con? Thermae.com for the Belgium spa's Thermae Boetfort & Thermae Grimbergen (Belgium):
Immerse yourself in luxury. Our Jacuzzis are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. 🌿💧
More on Euro sauna culture, but now from the US point of view.
None other than New York Times (Feb. 26). Highlighting the clothing rules:
'Had I ever seen so much bare flesh in one room? Naked in a mixed-gender Austrian sauna, I sat opposite two dozen other nude people on wooden benches. Even after more than a year of living in Europe, as an American, I still felt a little uncomfortable sitting there in nothing but my own skin'.
It's as if North Americans defend themselves because their genetics are different. They're not, it's all socially constructed.
The author describes in detail the Aufguss process, but still seems to be hung up on certain issues:
'For some Americans, including me, nudity, especially in a mixed-gender environment, can initially feel extremely uncomfortable. Keon West, a professor of social psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, explained that cultural standards often affect what level of nudity people find tolerable: In some places, seeing women with their hair uncovered might feel racy, while in others, stripping down on a public beach is perfectly acceptable.
“You might think the Germans are a bit risqué, whereas they think they’re normal, and you’re a bit silly,” Dr. West said.
...
In a number of studies, Dr. West and his team have found that being naked around others can increase self-confidence and life satisfaction [really?]. “If you go to a naturist event, you see a lot of normal people, people who aren’t airbrushed and aren’t Beyoncé, and you realize you don’t look bad compared to the average person,” Dr. West said. “And you spend time naked in their company and nothing bad happens. No one says anything bad to you, no one laughs at you.”
Some Americans have found that the discomfort of being nude in the sauna is fleeting and has a worthwhile payoff.
The article elicits 500 comments no less! Most in the line of: nudity means nothing. Others feeling more uncomfortable, because what the article implies is that US culture is the lesser of European culture, and we are the US of A? Very little comment on the sauna culture itself ... Can resist this share:
'But actually, again, having those hangups is very North American. There's no reason why you couldn't go into a European spa with a mastectomy. It's not like it'd be in the US, with people gawking and judging. I've been to a fair number of European spas and walked through FKK beaches and it's not about having a perfect body to show off. Different mindset, more about health'.
Airmailnews shares another (typical?) US experience (Mar. 1) of the open sauna culture of central / west Europe:
'But the nudity—total, stark, unignorable—scared me senseless. Is it because I’m an American or just too literal that I associate it with sex? According to my Viennese friend Karin, who invited us here, “That is not a very Austrian way of thinking.” Unlike me, these Europeans don’t have to suppress a snort when they see random genitals. Here, the sauna is a centerpiece of community life, a municipal institution on par with the public library. Karin’s octogenarian mother, who lives in the countryside, frequents hers several times a week. When she needs a break from the heat, she plays cards and drinks tea in her towel.
The women around me, walking and chatting from tub to sauna, didn’t seem the least bit self-conscious. I wish I could say the same. On my first dip in the outdoor pool, I was halfway submerged before I flung my caftan toward a lounge chair. Most days, I really like my body, but apparently not enough to parade around in the nude altogether.
...
And it is here, every day at 6 P.M., where the Krallerhof’s guests gather for the traditional aufguss ceremony, in which a saunameister pours water, often infused with essential oils, onto the hot stones and then circulates the vapor through the air using a large fan or towel. At first, I resisted the idea of squishing my hips against a stranger’s in such conditions, but I suppressed all instincts to flee. Out of national pride, I hung my robe on a peg, smoothed my towel on the bench, and took a seat, rounding my back and crossing my legs in an attempt to disappear.
In the clothed world, we are bankers, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and parents, burdened with a variety of complexes and complexities. But without our daily costumes, we were more alike than different. I tried not to look, but I’m a journalist. I wasn’t going to miss the rare opportunity to study this mishmash of humanity in all its glory.
We’re just bodies, after all. We have stretch marks, patchy bits of hair, soft arms, softer bellies, freckles, veins, and scars. We droop and sag; we look inelegant when we walk. And yet, together, what would be flaws seem to lose their power. It’s one thing to know that penises and breasts come in all shapes and sizes; it’s another to witness 50 of them at once, as individualized as characters in a Tom Stoppard play. It’s all so real that it can’t help but be beautiful.
...
Eventually, I gathered the fortitude to join them. By the end of our week at the Krallerhof, I was spending more time in the sauna than on the slopes. It began to work its magic on my mind; I became less self-conscious, less self-critical, less prudish. I’m older now than I’ve ever been—that’s the way time works—and yet floating there in that cold plunge, I felt as fresh as a newborn. And I was even able to start looking at all those bodies—and myself—directly in the eyes'.
We're not there yet. But nearly.
Paul and Marina share (Jun. 9) with you the ultimate (?) German sauna rules. As you can imagine (= wrong word?) it's a long read:
'Saunas are a safe place where people from all walks of life, from all over the world meet. You will find teenagers there with their parents, 60 – something couples, 30 – something groups of boys and girls and 90-year-old male and female sauna veterans.
People are courteous and mind their own business most of the time, but you can get into a friendly chat with other sauna visitors.
People walk around nude without swimming wear. Some people have a towel wrapped around their body or waist, others like to move about in robes.
Sauna visitors usually sit on a towel on the wooden benches, some lie on it to take a nap in the sauna room.
Your upper and lower body will be exposed, just try to sit comfortably but in a normal fashion and in time you will get the flow and forget that everyone else is nude as well.
Mobile phones are not allowed, you can't take pictures or film in a sauna. If you see someone doing this, you can report them to the sauna master.
...
No body shaming!
Be courteous and keep other people in mind at all times.
Behave like an adult. Yes, there are nude people running around, it's normal and ok.
Don't yell around, don't speak too loud with your friends in a sauna room. You are not alone and there are other people using this public facility'.
Even German speakers can learn a thing or two:
'Don't reserve a sun bed if you are not going to use it. You can reserve a bed for an extra fee at certain spas'.
It comes complete with German sauna vernacular.

#yesa #unlugarpararecordar #conexiones #momentos #barro #piel
In this post I'll be trying to rid myself some of the backlog of photo's dating back some years. Pictures for some reason not deemed convenient / expressive enough, yet more or less dot on, on what this blog seeks to convey: the privilege to be able to enjoy our planet's bounty, in this case the hot and mineral rich water.
Or even earth itself, witness above (though reader should note that this is adjacent to hot spring).
Below on the north side of the Pyrenees.

Yesterday....in Rennes-Les-Bains in France. Exhilarating!
And much needed after a challenging 3 days traveling solo with a rental car, and running into all kinds of challenges as I made my way through interesting towns and winding roads to Rennes-Les-Chateaux, one of the claimed sights of the Magdelena.
An initiation of sorts.
More on the complications (most humorous, some incredibly scary) in a next post.
For now, I’ll say that the theme was SURRENDER TO WHAT IS. Which is not easy for me, as often I desperately try to control, manipulate and change things to the way I think they “should” be.
I’ll also say that as hard as it was, I wouldn’t change a thing about it. (And….I’m glad it’s complete).
The challenging moments make the magical ones all the more extraordinary. And there were and are an abundance of magical moments. ✨💛✨

Unihibited

#rognerbadblumau #badblumau #hundertwasser #friedensreichhundertwasser #hundertwasserarchitektur #visitaustria #visitstyria #thermenundvulkanland #steirischesthermenundvulkanland #therme #spa #dawillichhin #rückzug #entspannung #relax
There are very few bathing palaces which stand out as much as the Rodger Bad Blumau complex in Styria, Austria.

Designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000), the buildings exterior is exceptional and attractive, so much so, I decided recently to take the more than 2 hours train ride from Vienna to Bad Blumau to see what it's like in reality.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser is not the architects real name; rather one he came upon as appealing and descriptive of himself. Born in Slovakia, pre-war to a Jewish mother and Catholic father he is well accustomed to atrocities of war, whereby many of his Jewish family members were murdered. After the war he came to Vienna where he studied arts followed by architecture.
For more info I refer you to the Wikipedia dedicated to him.

Over the years he became a well-known artist as well as an architect.
From the artist's own website:
'Hundertwasser's commitment to a more human architecture in harmony with nature and his visionary ecological commitment developed from his belief in the power of nature and individual creativity. Since the 1980s, he has been realizing architectural projects in which there is the window right and tree tenants, the uneven floor, forests on the roof and spontaneous vegetation. His buildings testify to his commitment to diversity instead of monotony, for romanticism, for the organic and for unregulated irregularities, for spontaneous vegetation and for living in harmony with nature.
At the center of his ecological activities were tree planting and greening campaigns, the restoration of natural cycles, the protection of water and the fight for a waste-free society.
He disseminated his socio-critical and ecological positions with manifestos, letters, speeches and public demonstrations in which he criticized the pure functionality of all areas of life, the uninhibited growth doctrine and the adaptation to social conformism'.
In Vienna a museum dedicated to his art, his architecture and his ecological beliefs: Kunst Haus Wien (pictured below).
Tripadvisor ranks Kunst Haus as the 11th museum of Vienna, Touropia as seventh.

Gentle
We then travel onwards to Bad Blumau.
Bad Blumau is a bathing complex from which the waters originate from a natural hot spring / hot springs.

The therme's own website is not too clear on the origins of its water(s). Are there 3 springs? Vulkania:
'The two Vulkania® lakes get constantly fresh water from the Vulkania® spring so the water is free from chemical additives.
...
One can swim and recover in the millennium old, high mineralised Vulkania® water'.
The Melchior spring:
'The Melchior curative spring is the “gentle” and “mild” one. The water temperature of the mineral-rich spa water is 47.2 degrees Celsius as it flows out of the ground. It has its source at a depth of 970 metres, as a sodium hydrogen carbonate spring'.
Then there's the Baltasar spring which I believe is not utilised for bathing.
Additional info on the bathing complex and the origin of it's waters. Blumau.com:
'The only geothermal power station in Europe is located in the east of Bad Blumau- here, energy in the form of heat and natural CO2 is extracted from the earth's mantle through a drilling process.
The water of the Vulkania® curative spring completes a true circle - first the 104°C hot water of the Vulkania® curative spring is used to generate energy, then it flows back to the heat exchangers of Rogner Bad Blumau before it finally returns to the first borehole where it is injected back into the earth.
The geothermal energy system of Rogner Bad Blumau is a showcase project not only for Europe, but the entire world. With this sensible and environmentally friendly way of using energy, Rogner Bad Blumau has a leading role in environmental awareness and protection.
A sustainable and self-contained cycle of water. Living in harmony with nature'.
On Wikipedia there's this more info, concerning the waters origins it does add this (in German):

Stacked
The entry to the baths / therme proper (once found) entails quick service.
After paying it becomes dodgy though: as there are many lockers, little seating area and complete confusion: do we change here between the lockers? Are there not men / women changing areas?

Probably the most startling part after circumventing the above, is that once one enters the swim area itself, it really is far removed from your perceptions of Hundertswasser's philosophy.
Through the door we enter an indoor area whereby the deck is packed with seemingless infinitive loungers; some with patrons lounging, other loungers stacked with towels. And more towels in heaps. Noise. Many persons moving around.
Is this how Hundertwasser perceived a sojourn must become?

We head for what we expect is a more sensible experience, notably expected of the sauna area.
No kids are allowed (why?).
However the expectation that this would mean a more balanced experience could be afforded is wishful thinking. Here too many persons are milling around and again here are even more stacks of towels, literally everywhere. Many empty loungers but covered in towels.

During the sauna stay we are not only surprised by the apparently many guests who seemingly reserve loungers with complete discard to others.
Others are disregarding the very few rules there are: smoking publicly, jumping directly from the sauna in the cold bath without taking a shower, using the facilities dressed, even using mobile phones in the sauna area itself.
The feeling is that the sauna area is in fact a little cramped. It consists of a small bar area, a large relax area with a number of different saunas veering off here. As well as a larger steamroom. Outside are a number of smaller saunas as well as a large sauna for Aufguss sessions. And a small hot pool.

Not too many facilities considering the entrance price. Though on the plus side the use of sauna facilities are not charged extra (as is quite common in other complexes throughout NW Europe). This might also explains why the sauna seems a bit overrun.

The Aufguss sessions were hourly, for one session (with Schnaps) there was a nominal extra charge. Others are free and were well utilized. One special session was an Aufguss which included a honey rub during the break. In the sauna, the honey remains liquid, however after air-cooling, one becomes sticky. A hot shower consequently removes the honey which has not been absorbed through the skin and a cool bath leaves one quite satisfied.

For those wishing to don swimmers there are quite a few hot pools inside in the main area as well a couple larger baths outside. For those sans, it's the little sauna corner alas.

There are a couple of restaurants attached and available, though their timings are not always obvious. Food was ok, mostly bio and service good.

So what do others think?
The mainstream review sites are quite clear:
  • Tripadvisor 4.5 stars (830+), though not all positive, also reflects the complete resort, not only the baths.
  • Yelp 4.5 stars, but reviews are quite outdated.
  • Thermencheck (German language): 4.8 stars (see also below).
  • Google, 4.7 stars (6,000+ (!) reviews); for instance on 14th of March the first 22 reviews are all 5 stars. It does include the hotel and/or restaurants outside of the baths themselves.
In more details then. Starting with this from a mid-February Google review:
The last sentence: average place with great facade!

Beyond the above, there is this from Deutsch Akademie (Jan. 12, 2019):
I think one of the most completely foreign experiences I’ve ever had in Austria was going to a thermal spa or “therme”. For the first time, I went into a sauna. Not only did I go into a sauna full of naked people I don’t know, I also went in with naked people I DO know. (This sparked an interesting conversation with my partner, because he thought that being there with people I know very well would make me more comfortable, when in fact it was quite the opposite). It was really interesting because…it wasn’t big deal; no one really cared. Coming from somewhere where nudity is so controversial, it was sort of refreshing. Being in the sauna was also a really fun (and sort of humerous) event anyway. You sit in the sauna with a crowd of people, while the “sauna master” whips a towel around to make the room hotter [the Aufguss]. Then you get out and jump in a pool of freezing water. Once again, you get back into the sauna for round two where the room gets EVEN HOTTER; then at the end you get a schnapps shot to celebrate!
The therme we went to was also really beautiful. It’s called Rogner Bad Blumau which is located in Styria. It’s designed by the Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser (the guy who designed the Spittelau Waste Plant and Hundertwasserhaus), so the whole complex consists of mosaic buildings, even floors and lots of trees and plants. Even all of the rooves are covered in grass so if you were to look at it from above, you wouldn’t be able to see the buildings.
Another: kardiasarena (17 Feb. 2018):
Travel Tomorrow on naturist friendly European spa's:
'3. Rogner Bad Blumau Spa, Bad Blumau, Austria
Bad Blumau is a spa town located in the heart of the Styria region, Austria. The town has many attractions and hospitality facilities, including luxury hotels, exquisite food and wine, pristine nature, creative architecture and, above all, a 13-hectare large spa park.
The Rogner Bad Blumau thermal Spa was designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The thermal baths includes a unique 8.500 m2 spa area, a bathing area, a fitness room, a sauna area, and Vulkania hot springs (21-37°C). The Vulkania springs are made of a special composition of groundwater, with an extremely high mineral content: it is, indeed, the highest mineralized curative thermal water in the Styrian region.
Other than thermal water, Rogner Bad Blumau offers many other activities, like therapies, massages, beauty treatments etc.
The Rogner Bad Blumau Spa is a quiet place; therefore, the number of customers is limited. Make sure to reserve your admission to the spa well in advance!'
Possibly, it doesn't seem to be based on an experience. It's neither quiet, nor naturist friendly! More like we have a miniature corner for those who have forgotten their swimmers.

From Medium (Jun. 25, 2022), this experience:

Our favourite: ROGNER BAD BLUMAU a south-east Austrian spa was designed by eccentric Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Fed by two curative springs, it boasts a Dead Sea salt grotto alongside its pools, saunas and treatment rooms. The outdoor pool Vulcania is other worldly at night., We were sorry we didn’t stay in the attached hotel. Visited December 2014. Photo and text by Keeley Schroder

Austrianadaptation (Jan. 27, 2020) on sauna and thermes in Austria:
'Having navigated a few friends through the basics when visiting Therme Wien & the glorious Rogner Bad Blumau therme, I figured it was time to enlighten you guys on how on Earth you could actually enjoy your time at a Therme & Sauna in Austria, without being worried or awkward the whole time.
...
Once you have your bearings a little and put your stuff down, the most important thing you have to do before swimming, before naked sauna exploration, is shower off.
This is the rules at any Austrian swimming pool, and is just good hygeine practise anyway.
...
Know that no one - literally no one - is interested in, looking at, judging or appraising your body in Sauna. They are there for their own relaxation and entirely comfortable in their bodies.
Therme time is not a leery, creepy hookup situation - you're more likely to be seeing people your parents age or older lying back snoring on a sun lounger than anything remotely sexy.
So my loving advice is - get over yourself, to liberate yourself.
...
Rogner Bad Blumau - an absolute dream hotel, spa and wellness retreat in the naturally occurring hot springs of Styria in southern Austria.
Visiting Rogner Bad Blumau is a must-do experience, as not only do they have the fantastic outdoor 'volcano' healing hot springs, luxurious treatments and delicious restaurants, but all the architecture of the resort is magically designed to imitate nature.
Freidrich Hundertwasser is the famous architect behind the other-worldly designs, and though his apartments in Vienna are cool, his creativity was truly set free in designing the Rogner Bad Blumau spa and wellness resort.
This is a truly special place to visit, and one of the most relaxing, unique experiences of my life. You can see just from the photos how special it is to visit.
Pricing: A day ticket during the week to Rogner Bad Blumau is €46 per adult, and they prefer you to reserve your space in advance in order to maintain the tranquility of the spa.
Alternatively, you can book yourself a short stay at the hotel to really lap up the experience - definitely recommended so you can enjoy the restaurant buffet which is one of the best of my life'.
Putting all this in perspective. Thermencheck has this (Dec. 7. 2022):

Austria's best therme for eight years running!

My own ranking, based on the sauna only, a 7. Plenty of room for improvement.
